The neat little gadget (PNG-100) featured here is an analog true-random noise generator that can generate both pink and white noise that will not loop like other products or CD's - NOT EVER! (explained further in the blue text below). The unit is only 3.3" in length, 2.4" in width, and 1.1" in height but packs a lot of circuitry (see picture gallery). It is a totally new product that was designed and hand-built by me personally. It was introduced to the market on August 23rd, 2009.
The noise signal produced by this device must be patched to an audio amplification system such as a home stereo system (RCA cables included) or a set of amplified speakers (such as a pair of computer speakers), to produce a white noise sound. To connect to computer speakers, simply insert the phone plug running from your computer speakers (which would normally plug into your computer) into the PNG-100. The unit can also power headphones directly. However, if you do plan on using headphones, make sure that you use headphones that have built-in volume control (such as a pair of T.V. headphones) otherwise the volume may be very loud.
Since the same signal is delivered to both channels of your system, the resulting sound is in mono. Therefore, if you desire true stereo sound (stereo sounds richer and fuller than mono) two units are required. For stereo operation, you simply plug an RCA cable into each unit and then connect only one RCA plug from each cable (does not matter which ones - left or right channel) into your stereo system, leaving two plugs unconnected. Personally, I prefer mono sound even though it sounds more "plain".
Frequency range covers the entire spectrum of human hearing (from 20Hz to 20,000Hz).
Push button selects between pink and white noise.
Accurate noise signals are straight across the octaves as depicted by a spectrum analyzer. See captured image from a real-time spectrum analyzer in picture gallery (noise signals were averaged over a period of 1000 frames).
The output jack accommodates a standard 1/8 stereo plug to deliver the signal to both the left and right channels of a stereo system.
Unit comes with an AC adapter and RCA cables (for hook-up to external audio equipment) as shown in picture gallery. Owner's manual is also included.

There is one major problem with other white noise machines, sound conditioners, and white noise CD's - they all repeat the same sound over and over again. If you think that is not a big deal, please read below.
High quality white noise is supposed to consist of rapid "true-random" impulses. It is the very nature of this "randomness" that produces that distinct white noise sound - just like the random spattering of rain drops. If rain droplets fell in an orderly fashion, it would sound more like clapping than rainfall.
White noise that does NOT consist of true-random impulses is called pseudo-random noise. It sounds "white" because the individual impulses only seem to pop forth randomly. What is really going on is that this seemingly random train of impulses is just a predetermined sequence of bits that eventually repeats. It is just a simulation of true-random noise created by mathematical algorithms - a product of digital technology. It is not possible to generate true-random white noise by digital means, e.g., computer software or digital electronic circuitry.
Only analog technology can provide true-random white noise. The problem is that almost all other white noise generators or electronic sound conditioners found on the market are pseudo-random digital devices. Why? Because digital noise generators are much easier to manufacture.
We are one of the few manufacturers of analog noise generators. The noise produced by our noise generators consist of true random impulses based on the chaotic motion of electrons and "holes" at the quantum level. Not only does our noise generator produce true-random white noise, it can also generate true-random pink noise as well (most people find pink noise much more soothing to listen too). There is no other product on the market that can do this. To download a sample recording, click here.
What about those white noise CD's? Whether it was recorded from analog, digital, or natural sources (rain shower or waterfall), you would hear the same sound every time you play a white noise CD. Playing a CD on loop mode is no different than listening to pseudo-random
Sound conditioners and CD's have other problems as well. Most sound conditioners have only a tiny speaker to produce a sound blanket, limiting both the sound quality and the volume (we all know what a small transistor radio sounds like). Most do not even have tone controls to let you adjust the bass or treble to suite your needs.
Since most people already have a great sound system that has a set of tone controls and large speakers, our noise generators were designed to be connected to those very sound systems. That way, you can have full encompassing sound piped through dual speakers, and you can easily adjust the tone and volume as needed.
CD's are fragile and can easily get scratched or ruined.
We build our noise generators to last for many years. We spend a little extra for top quality components even though this raises manufacturing costs. Similar products are big and bulky and sell for several hundred dollars!
